A Note of Consideration

There is no perfect creed, statement of faith, analogy, metaphor, slogan, or set of core values- only a perfect God. Despite their imperfections, these core beliefs are important because they are rooted in Scripture, the apostles' teaching, and the theological frameworks developed by faithful Christians throughout history.

The Bible is the primary Christian source for understanding God, His will, and the life He calls us to live. It would be foolish for mankind to think we can fully understand God. What we claim to understand is theology- our best effort to understand what God has revealed through Scripture.

The same is true concerning the divine persons of the Godhead, or the Trinity. Scripture reveals that there is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). Yet, in Genesis, this one God speaks creation into existence, the Spirit hovers over the waters, breathes life into mankind, and appears in a theophany, walking with Adam and Eve in the garden. Scripture teaches that Jesus, the eternal Word, became flesh and dwelt among us as the Christ, that He became the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and that the Holy Spirit is a divine person. It also teaches that the Son and the Father are one. While there is mystery surrounding God's nature, the Bible reveals enough for us to know Him, worship Him, and have a relationship with Him.

Likewise, the Scriptures present a normative pattern of salvation under the New Covenant, emphasizing God's grace made available through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. They also teach that the church is not a building, but a community, a body, and a family working together as Christ's representatives and ambassadors on earth.

This summary is not perfect, nor is it intended to answer every question. Rather, it serves as a framework and an introduction to the ancient Christian faith rooted in Scripture. There is so much more to discover as we continue to grow in our knowledge of God and our relationship with Him.
